It&#8217;s called The Element High School. Situated in Ottawa, the school offers an educational approach based on the Montessori method. The mission of <em>The Element High School<\/em> is to immerse young people <em>&#8220;in their element&#8221;<\/em> to enable them to flourish through different activities. This idea is at the very foundation of education according to the Montessori approach.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>The Montessori Approach<\/h3>\n<p><em>Maria Montessori<\/em> has developed a method of education based on the children&#8217;s developmental needs. The <em>Montessori approach<\/em> places the child, or the adolescent, at the center of his own training process. The basic idea is to make the learning context in which the child evolves meaningful to him. He is then able to show more maturity and develop his critical sense to learn, think and take responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><em>Maria Montessori<\/em> considered that the classroom is an environment where it quickly becomes impossible to meet all the educational needs of the children. <em>The Element High School<\/em> is working to get kids to experience the real world in the community in Ottawa. Students are not trained to pass their assessments, they are prepared to live well!<\/p>\n<p>The efforts that children invest in their training must be meaningful in order to motivate them and to stimulate a thirst for learning. Thus, <em>The Element High School<\/em> strives to put students in learning situations and projects that are connected to their interests and culture.
